Charlotte 2010 Vision Plan

The draft document for the 2010 Plan was produced through considerable research and numerous conversations with citizens who live in the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Many plan recommendations were derived from ideas generated from three community workshops, attended by more than 700 citizens, and from professional collaboration of city and county agencies with the consultant team.

The following images illustrate the recommendations of the 2010 Vision Plan and its primary goal: to create a Charlotte that is not only "viable" and "livable," but also "memorable."

  • A "viable" Charlotte has a healthy economy, interesting places to visit, and it is a commercial center for the region.

  •

  • A "livable" Charlotte is a place where people live, work, play and learn.

  •

  • A "memorable" Charlotte will be known for its "way of doing things." Its parks, transit stops, stores and houses will be specific and special to its neighborhoods. People will remember visiting Charlotte because of its unique character.

We know Charlotte is viable, we believe it is livable, and we are certain it can be memorable!
